The electronic truck scale often encounters faults in the process of use. One of the common faults is that the scale does not return to zero or the zero position is unstable. The scale does not return to zero means that it does not display zero value within the specified time when starting up or after unloading. The zero position is unstable and jumps in a small range. These two failures do not affect weighing and are often ignored without attention. However, these two kinds of failures will affect the accuracy of the scale and cause bad effects among users. If they continue for a long time, they will affect the reputation of the enterprise and cause irreparable losses (the zero point jump caused by the wind is not included in the analysis).

1、 The scale does not return to zero or the zero position is unstable because the foundation is not solid

Take the electronic truck scale of 120 tons and 20 kilograms as an example, with 6000 divisions. Due to the large weight, the requirements for the foundation are also high. For use in the north, due to the large temperature difference between winter and summer, and the low temperature in winter, if the foundation is not firm, it will cause foundation deformation, so the quality requirements for the foundation are higher. Because there are 8 sensors in the 120t electronic truck scale, if the force on the sensor is uneven, the output will be unbalanced, which will affect the measurement accuracy. Therefore, the foundation is not solid, which is one of the reasons why the scale does not return to zero or the zero position is unstable.

2、 The size of the clearance between the limit bolt and the foundation causes the scale not to return to zero or the zero position is unstable

Since the truck scale is prohibited from being subjected to external force during use, there are four limiters at both ends of the scale, and the gap between the limiters should be kept at a distance of 5mm. If the distance is large, it is easy to cause uneven force on the sensor. If the distance is too small, it is easy to cause friction between the limiter and the scale foundation. It is also the main reason that the scale does not return to zero or the zero position is unstable.

3、 The scale does not return to zero or the zero position is unstable due to incomplete cleaning and maintenance

 Weighbridge

The dust and dust on the vehicle scale are more and more solid. If it is not cleaned in time, it will give the scale an upward force, which will affect the accuracy of the scale. Dust in rainy days will also cause poor drainage. Once the ponding soaks into the junction box of the sensor, it will not only cause the scale to fail to return to zero or the zero position is unstable, but also easily burn the junction box of the sensor. Therefore, attention must be paid to the daily cleaning and maintenance of truck scale. For the problem of dust carried by vehicles, we suggest that enterprises develop rules and regulations for regular cleaning and maintenance of truck scale to prevent dust accumulation from endangering the normal use of the scale. Years of practice has proved that this is an effective method.

4、 The scale does not return to zero or the zero position is unstable due to poor grounding

The grounding of the electronic truck scale is easy to be ignored, but it has a great impact on the truck scale. The electronic instrument requires the grounding resistance to be less than 4 Ω and an independent grounding electrode. Because the working voltage of the integrated circuit is usually 5V DC, the threshold voltage is only a few tenths of a volt. When the zero position voltage is not zero volts, the integrated circuit will act disorderly. As a result, the displayed number is unstable. Therefore, poor grounding is the reason why the scale does not return to zero or the zero position is unstable.

In this case, we usually use the method of driving four 2m long angle irons vertically every 4m and sinking them into the ground 2m, which has proved to be effective in practice.
