With regard to this accounting method of electronic scales in the farmers' market, the relevant person in charge of the Institute of Metrology informed the reporter that the number of any pricing scale at the end of the price display window is a rounding operation rule, which is in line with the requirements of the technical standards. That is to say, it is not the scale itself that has questions.
The person in charge said: "In the farmers' market, some vendors deliberately pressed less than twice when using the electronic scale. The price of the weighbridge was non-standard, which meant that the electronic scale would automatically round up. If the unit price was reduced, the weighbridge manufacturer would reduce the total price digits, and the design of the weighbridge at the end would have a relatively large change."
The change is basically between 0.1 yuan and 0.5 yuan. For example, the unit price of a 2.5kg item is 3 yuan/kg. If the standard input is "300", the unit price will show "3.00", and the total price is 7.5 yuan. If only "3" is entered, the unit price will show "0.03", and the total price obtained should show "0.075", but the weighbridge function can only show two digits after the decimal point, and rounding will show "0.08". To convert, you need to pay 8 yuan, so you have to pay 0.5 yuan more. However, if the total price is "0.074" and rounded to 7 yuan, consumers will be able to pay 0.4 yuan less.
"Most people don't care about the difference of a few cents." The person in charge said that in order to avoid losses, sometimes the situation that the merchant said twice was also shown.
In this regard, the Institute of Metrology reminds us that the way to guard against such doubt is to let the merchants input according to the practical unit price, so as to be more considerate.
